Hugo Séguin named Executive Director of COPTICOM

Montréal, February 7th 2023 – Leïla Copti, President and Founder of COPTICOM, Strategy & Public Relations, is pleased to announce Hugo Séguin as Executive Director. Thanks to his strategic skills and his active involvement in the environmental movement, Hugo Séguin has distinguished himself in governmental, political, civil society and financial circles in Ottawa, Québec City, and Montreal over the past 30 years.

Senior advisor at COPTICOM since 2011, Hugo holds a doctorate from the University of Oregon in Environmental Studies. Hugo is also a fellow of the Center for International Studies and Research at the University of Montreal (CÉRIUM) and teaches at the School of Applied Politics at the University of Sherbrooke. His book Lettre aux écolos impatients et à ceux qui trouvent qu’ils exagèrent [Letter to Impatient Environmentalists and to Those Who Think They’re Exaggerating] was published by Écosociété last April. In addition to serving as Executive Director of COPTICOM, Hugo will continue acting as an advisor for clients and partners and as an expert on socio-ecological issues for the public.

“Building on 12 years of fostering fruitful alliances and partnerships, the arrival of Hugo Séguin as Executive Director will allow COPTICOM to amplify our work to stengthen social solidarity and collective resilience in the face of the combined environmental and social crises. Since the very beginning, our team has been motivated to work for better social and environmental public policy in collaboration with actors of social change. Today, we are giving ourselves the means to go even further”, says Leïla Copti, President and Founder of COPTICOM.

In an attempt to adapt to the context of rising inequalities, polarization, weakening social cohesion coupled with the accelerating environmental crisis, this new configuration is part of a major shift undertaken by COPTICOM since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. As President and Founder, Leïla Copti will continue to oversee the strategic development of COPTICOM and the achievement of its objectives. Leïla will continue to build strategic partnerships and play a leadership role in major civil society alliances, allowing her to actively contribute to societal debates.

Brought together by a shared commitment to environmental protection and the fight against the climate crisis and social inequalities, COPTICOM’s team of strategists and communications specialists support their clients’ projects to help deepen their impact on our society and our environment. Founded in 2011, COPTICOM, Strategy and Public Relations is recognized for supporting social, political and economic alternatives by collaborating and engaging in co-construction with stakeholders invested in issues of collective concern. COPTICOM’s team of 20 employees has offices in Montreal and Québec City, offers services throughout Quebec and is active in Canada.
