President and Founder

An entrepreneur committed to the fight against climate change and the reduction of social inequalities for over 20 years, Leïla founded COPTICOM in 2011. In 12 years, she has built a team of 20 experienced and committed people, with whom she works to disseminate the values of resilience and social solidarity to decision makers and Quebec society. She is recognized for her mastery of complex socio-ecological issues, her sharp strategic sense and her effectiveness in the field. Today, Leïla shares her expertise with a network of more than 300 clients and partners from all sectors of activity, from the most activist to the most institutional, and leads large collectives and strategic partenrships working for the common good.

In Quebec, Leïla co-founded several influential groups such as TRANSIT, the Alliance pour le financement des transports collectifs, the ARIANE Alliance, SWITCH, as well as Partenariat Climat Montréal, the Dialogues pour le Climat and the Communauté de pratique en communication climatique. It creates and ensures the strategic coordination of the G15+, a group of 15 economic, union, social and environmental leaders who wish to promote Quebec’s transition to a more united, prosperous and green society.

She stands out for her ability to rallying people to a cause, bringing out surprising and fruitful partnerships. Notably, she cofounded and coordinated influential and active alliances in Quebec, including TRANSIT, an alliance seeking to increase funding for public transit, and SWITCH, an alliance of businesspeople and environmentalists wishing to accelerate the transition to a green economy in Quebec. She is a leader in Canada when it comes to reconciling the environment and the economy. Among other accolades, her work was recognized in 2018 by the Minister of Environment at the “Climate Leaders’ Summit: Women Kicking it on Climate.”

Her leadership was recognized in 2018 by Canada’s Minister of the Environment at the “Climate Change Leadership Summit: Women in Action for the Climate”. Since 2021, Leïla is also one of the “100 women entrepreneurs in Quebec who are changing the world” according to Femmessor. She was a finalist for the Prix Femmes d’Affaires du Québec in the category “Impact Entrepreneur – Femmes en mouvement de Desjardins” in 2021.

Leïla is an expert in consultative processes and has been recognized for several landmark operations in Quebec, such as the coordination of the public consultation leading to the Metropolitan Planning and Development Plan (PMAD) of the Communauté Métropolitaine de Montréal (2012), the development of the Quebec Government’s First Sustainable Mobility Policy (2018) and the Plan for a Green Economy (2020). A high-level influencer, she has been behind major mobilizations such as the campaigns in support of the community of Restigouche, in the Baie des Chaleurs, which is grappling with issues regarding the protection of its drinking water sources, and of Anticosti, whose mobilization will soon lead to its inscription on the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites. Leila has also been a guest lecturer since 2018 in the International Public Affairs Master’s program at the Université de Montréal. 

Leïla has designed communication strategies as part of major public consultations in Canada, including one leading to the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal’s Metropolitan Land Use and Development Plan in 2012. She has organized several major events, such as the first Canadian Roundtable on the Green Economy in April 2015. She is an expert at coordinating consultative processes, such as the one that paved the way for the creation of the Quebec government’s first sustainable mobility policy, unveiled in April 2018. As a high-level influencer, she continues to be driving force behind major mobilizations in Quebec like the public relations and fundraising campaign for the municipality of Ristigouche from 2014 to 2018.

Even before she started her company, Leïla stood out for her rich and varied career in public affairs and communications, working with the public relations firm NATIONAL, Greenpeace Canada and the Conseil régional de l’environnement de Montréal.

Leïla is Vice-Chair of the board of the Conseil régional de l’environnement de Montréal and sits on the board of the Al Gore-founded organization Climate Reality Canada. She holds a master’s degree in psychology, is the mother of three children and is a committed citizen and entrepreneur.
