The Canadian Roundtable on the Green Economy – Québec 2015, an initiative by SWITCH, the Alliance for a Green Economy in Quebec, was held on April 13th 2015 at Québec City Convention Centre and was co-chaired by Sophie Brochu, President and CEO of Gaz Métro and by Ed Whittingham, Executive Director of Pembina Institute.
COPTICOM team’s, under the supervision of its president Leila Copti, was in charge of this unusual event that brought close to 200 decision-makers from different economic, non-profit and environmental sectors across Canada to discuss actions that can be taken to accelerate the shift towards a green economy in Canada.
Participants agreed on the importance of carbon pricing and of promoting sustainable and innovative urban development. The event was also an opportunity to recognize the Government of Ontario for its decision to set a price on carbon by joining the Québec–California carbon market.

The Quebec Minister of Finance, Carlos J. Leitão, has introduced the conference luncheon which was led by Katie Sullivan, Director North America Policy & Climate Finance, IETA and Peter Robinson, Chief Executive Officer, David Suzuki Foundation and Simon Olivier, Vice president and growth leader, General Electric Canada.
The ministers Glen R. Murray, Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, Ontario and David Heurtel, Minister of Sustainable Development, Environment and the Fight against Climate Change, Quebec ended the event on an optimistic note.
